The Louvre and Lancôme came together for a new skincare and makeup collection, drawing inspiration from some of the museum’s iconic masterpieces.
The beauty brand enlisted Zendaya, Aya Nakamura, He Cong and Amanda Seyfried to promote the exclusive line-up in a commewrcial filmed at the iconic French museum. The spot features the four brand ambassadors channeling the timeless icons of ancient mythology: Venus de Milo, Corine, the Nymph with the Scorpion, and the Victory of Samothrace.
The soundtrack music is the 2018 song “Elijah” by House of EL featuring Jay Prince and Laura Mvula.
Inspired by nine masterpieces of sculpture (the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, Corinne, the Diana of Gabii, the Nymph with a Scorpion, Echo, Hygeia, the Venus of Arles and the Sleeping Hermaphrodite) and by the lights and colours of the museum, the collection includes the Lancôme x Louvre Richelieu Wing Palette, a face palette celebrating the sculpture of Corine, the Lancôme x Louvre Advanced Génifique Serum, whose packaging fittingly features the goddess Hygie, four Lancôme x Louvre L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipsticks, each representing a different muse in their packaging: French Drama 200 is inspired by Sleeping Hermaphrodite, French Tea 274 is inspired by Diane de Gabies, Celestial Rose represents Nymph Echo and French Touch is inspired by Nymph with a scorpion.
“This unprecedented creative partnership with the Louvre is the cultural reflection of this conviction and our mission for beauty at Lancôme. By pursuing the dialogue between our French brand with a history spanning some 90 years and the most iconic temple of art, we want to continue to draw on our artistic heritage to open new beauty horizons for women today and celebrate the fact that beauty is in perpetual motion,” Françoise Lehmann, Lancôme Global Brand President, said in a press release.
