Sony Pictures has released the trailer for the next and final chapter in the Equalizer franchise, The Equalizer 3, starring Denzel Washington.
According to the official synopsis, “Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia”.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, who has also directed the first two Equalizer movies, the film also stars Dakota Fanning, Sonia Ben Ammar, Remo Girone, Andrea Dodero, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Andrea Scarduzio, Salvatore Ruocco, Daniele Perrone, and Gaia Scodellaro.
The trailer shows how McCall, annoyed by the fact that crime bosses try to destroy the one thing he cares about (the place he has made a life in), takes on the Mafia. In one of the scenes, he tells a mobster he’s not “warning” him, as the latter believes, but he’s “preparing” him. He then destroys his hand with just a few moves that have an impact on his nerves.
Shots, explosions, and lots of other scenes including brutal violence are featured throughout the trailer, which is scored by the famous Italian song “Volare”, originally recorded by Italian singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno.
The Equalizer 3 comes to theaters September 1.
