Prime Video has released the trailer for its upcoming series Dead Ringers, a modern take on David Cronenberg’s 1988 thriller of the same name.
The six-part limited series stars Rachel Weisz playing the double-lead roles of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes – including pushing the boundaries of medical ethics – in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the events, without revealing too much, though. Apparently the twins – or at least one of them – is willing to attempt to “make a baby out of nothing”. There are shots of spilt blood and caged baby lambs, tense discussions between the two sisters and various characters, while in the background Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” plays.
Dead Ringers will be available for streaming on Prime Video next month, on April 21st.
