A Thousand and One (2023 Movie) - Trailer Song

Focus Features has released the trailer for A.V. Rockwell’s drama movie A Thousand and One, the winner of the Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

According to the official synopsis, the film, described as “A love letter to mothers, sons, and hustlers of NYC”, follows unapologetic and free-spirited Inez (Teyana Taylor), who kidnaps her six-year-old son Terry from the foster care system. Holding onto their secret and each other, mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability, in a rapidly changing New York City.

The emotional drama also tells the coming-of-age story of Terry, who becomes a bright young man with chances to go to Harvard or MIT.

The cast also includes Will Catlett, Josiah Cross, Aven Courtney, and Aaron Kingsley Adetola.

“There’s more to life than fucked-up beginnings,” Taylor’s character tells her young son Terry (played by Aaron Kingsley Adetola) as the movie begins. After getting out of jail, Inez kidnaps her six-year-old son from the city’s foster care, determined to offer him a better life. The trailer includes heartwarming scenes of the mother and her child getting reunited, with the latter saying that he wants to live with his mom. However, as Terry grows older, their secret is in danger of exposure.

The song used in the trailer is the 2019 single “Home with You” by British singer FKA Twigs (Tahliah Debrett Barnett by her real name), from her “MAGDALENE” album.

A Thousand and One will be exclusively in theaters nationwide starting on March 31, 2023.
