Sennheiser has teamed up with Dee Snider to promote its speech-enhancing earbuds.
The spot, created by agency Terri & Sandy and directed by Nalle Sjöblad, features Snider, who fronted Twisted Sister in the ’80s, having dinner in a posh restaurant with actor/singer Steve Cooke. Their conversation turns into a shriek-fest duet of epic proportions due to the fact that Snider mishears words and Cooke must yell in order to make himseld understood. Eventually, the rocker makes some wine glasses shatter because of his loud “performance”. Luckily, his assistant shows up to bring him his Conversation Clear Plus earbuds, which help him hear in the noisy environment.
“With speech enhancement and active noise cancellation, Sennheiser Conversation Clear Plus puts your conversation center stage,” the voiceover says at the end of the commercial.
When Cooke keeps shouting when trying to communicate with him, Snider tells him he gotta get a pair of those earbuds.
“While rock stars might still have the pipes to cut through all the clamor of a noisy restaurant, they’re just like us and will struggle to follow conversations in challenging environments,” said Jeff Marois, ACD at agency Terri & Sandy. “Dee and his counterpart were the perfect choices to highlight the frustration that can come from trying to carry on a normal conversation when speech intelligibility is compromised.” Marois added.
