After the teaser featuring Tony Romo Bill Murray’s classic “Cinderella story” scene, Michelob ULTRA has released a new spot, starring Serena Williams and Brian Cox.
The 15-second video is a riff on the 1980 film Caddyshack and features the tennis champion going head-to-head with the patriarch from HBO’s hit series “Succession”. The latter, clad in a pink polo, first swings at a golf ball, a stern look on his face. Williams, wearing a purple outfit with matching plaid pants and cap, takes her turn at the tee. As the dynamic duo continues swinging, a crowd of golfers gathers around them. Serena even pulls a Caddyshack move by kneeling down on the grass and gently hitting the ball with the top of her club.
The spot ends with a close-up shot of a golf ball rolling into a hole and the onscreen line “Bushwood Country Club Reopening 02.12.23,” – a reference to the name of the fictional country club in Harold Ramis’ comedic film and the date of Super Bowl 2023.
The brand’s Big Game ad will also feature U.S. Women’s National Team star Alex Morgan, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, and professional boxer Canelo Álvarez.
Super Bowl LVII will be taking place on February 12 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
