IKEA Canada aims to highlight how the home environment impacts our well-being in a new commercial from agency Rethink and director Nick Ball.
The 2-minute film tells the story of a young boy who helps a grumbling troll living under a dark, damp bridge to turn its living space into a home.
The child visits his new friend and takes him various products from IKEA, such as a table, chairs, a bed, linen, pillows, and many more. The two manage thus to transform the place into a bright and cozy home and the troll becomes a happy creature.
Eventually, the villagers, afraid to get close to the troll’s bridge, felt free to cross the bridge.
The spot has been filmed in Slovenia, at a bridge, as well as in-studio and the troll has been created by Czech puppet maker Martin Pec and brought to life using both animatronic and post elements.
The campaign, which also includes OOH, in-store and social and digital elements, is set to run in Canada and Australia, through April 2023.
