Hyundai has teamed up with Kevin Bacon and his daughter, Sosie, to promote the new all-electric IONIQ 6.
Titled “Grankids”, the spot opens with Sosie talking to the camera in a documentary-style and saying that, while you’ve been waiting to see if EVs are a thing, her dad went electric. “Up to 360 miles on a single charge,” he mentions as he unplugs the car.
Later on, as he starts driving his IONIQ 6, Bacon tells Sosie he’s doing this for the next generation, which makes her believe he wants to start a grankids conversation again and this is something she obviously doesn’t want. He explains that “EVs are good for any generation or all generations” and are “Generationally good”.
The commercial ends with the voiceover introducing the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 6 with up to 360 miles range and declaring, on behalf of the automaker, “When it comes to EVs, we’re thinking of every mile”.
Kevin Bacon and his daughter also co-star in another ad for the IONIQ 6, titled “Your Dad Is Going ELectric”. The two spots, part of the automaker’s “It’s Time to Go Electric” campaign, have been directed by Oscar-nominated directors Will Speck and Josh Gordon and are set to run on broadcast and digital media platforms until March, when the IONIQ 6 is available for purchase.
