Universal Pictures has dropped the trailer for its upcoming dark holiday action-comedy “Violent Night”, from 87North, the producers of “Nobody”, “John Wick”, “Atomic Blonde”, “Deadpool 2”, “Bullet Train” and “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw”.
Directed by Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola from a screenplay by Pat Casey & Josh Miller (the writers of Sonic the Hedgehog), the movie revolves around a team of mercenaries who breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve and takes everyone inside hostage, but isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus. The old man dressed in red proves to be stronger than he seems and ready to destroy them all, especially since they are on his naughty list.
The cast includes David Harbour, Emmy winner John Leguizamo, Cam Gigandet, Alex Hassell, Alexis Louder, Edi Patterson and Beverly D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise).
The trailer, set to the tune of Darlene Love’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”, includes lots of fighting and bloody scenes, with all kinds of objects turned into weapons by Santa, who manages to eliminate the villains one by one thanks to his supernatural powers.
“Violent Night” will hit theaters on December 2.
