Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its Christmas commercial, featuring a warm holiday tale of a forgotten gift, a little girl and Mrs. C’s epic dash to save the day.
The 30-second spot begins with Mrs. Claus realizing, after her husband left for his annual delivery of presents, that he forgot one of the gifts: a dog. “Not again,” she sighs, looking at the cute animal, that has a red bow attached to his neck. The next scene features Santa desperately searching for a girl’s present in his sack, placed in the spacious trunk of his Mercedes-Benz.
Luckily, Mrs. Claus shows up with the forgotten gift and saves the night for both Santa and the young girl, who’s standing at the window, waiting for her wish to come true.
“For the gifts you won’t forget, Happy Holidays from Mercedes-Benz,” the voiceover says at the end of the commercial.
This is not the first ad featuring Mrs. Claus as a Christmas icon. In its Christmas 2016 advert, Marks&Spencer featured Mrs. Claus taking an helicopter and going to the house of a boy whose letter for Santa arrived too late. The boy’s wish, to give his sister, Anna, a pair of trainers, comes trues thanks to Mrs. Claus, who delivers a pair of red glittery trainers in a box, which contains also a message: “To Anna, Jake wanted you to have this. With love, Mrs. Claus”.
