Air Canada Christmas Commercial - Feat. Baby Loon Reuniting with Family After Getting Lost

Air Canada has launched its Christmas commercial, highlighting that being together is the greatest gift of all and wishing everyone a merry and bright holiday season.

The 90-second animated short film tells a heartwarming story of a baby loon who gets separated from its family on its annual journey south for the winter. As he flies through the Canadian skies, a strong gust of wind pushes the little one out of its parents’ path. He lands in a new place, a cozy home where the baby loon makes a new friend – a bird-shaped wooden toy, with wheels. However, one day, the protagonist finds its way back to its loved ones in an unexpected way.

The end of the commercial sees the baby loon, accompanied by his new friend, reunited with its parents thanks to Santa, whose reindeer-drawn sleigh flies up into the sky, while an onscreen line reminds viewers that “Together makes it merry and bright”.

The songs playing in the ad are “Where You Are” by Canadian country singer Tenille Townes and “Les échardes” by Charlotte Cardin, another Canadian artist, who is a four-time 2022 Juno Award winner.

Developed with FCB Canada, the campaign runs across TV, cinema, social media and digital platforms.

“It’s been a tradition for us to use magic and wonder in our storytelling when it comes to our holiday ads, as it is one of the most celebrated and heartfelt times of the year. Air Canada takes great pride in being the airline that plays a role in uniting family and friends to help them celebrate these special times,” said Andy Shibata, Vice President, Brand, Air Canada.
