Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming film Lou, starring award-winning actress Allison Janney in the leading role.
According to the official synopsis, Janney plays a mysterious woman who teams up with a neighbor (played by Jurnee Smollett) to help her find her daughter, kidnapped on a stormy night. On their journey to pursue the kidnapper, their limits are tested and shocking secrets from their pasts are exposed.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the events, showing Janney’s character arriving in a remote area accompanied by her dog and almost hitting a young girl with her car. It turns out she is the daughter of Smollett’s character, a mother determined to find her at any cost. The two women are shown facing all kinds of dangers and even killing one man. Janney’s character even faces death after slipping from a wooden bridge but she is most probably saved by her neighbor turned friend.
The trailer, set to the tune of “Lost” by Zola Jesus, informs that Lou will be available for streaming on Netflix next month, September 23.
