McDonald’s UK reminds us that the quality time spent with loved ones means more than material possessions in its Christmas 2022 advert, titled “The List”.
Created by Leo Burnett and directed by Tom Hooper, the spot features a young boy who creates an extremely long Christmas list, which he carries with him everywhere he goes. One day, though, when he goes to the city with his mom and dad, he has it blown away by the wind and doesn’t manage to get it back. Seeing him so upset, his parents decide to enter a McDonald’s restaurant, where they spend time talking and laughing, all while eating their favorite meal.
Later on, asked by his mom what was on his list, the boy reveals his main wish is to spend quality time with his parents.
The emotional film features a cover of Yazoo’s iconic 1982 single Only You, performed by British singer Becky Hill. The song is available on several streaming services, including Amazon where it can be bought for $0.99.
The fast-food restaurant chain’s holiday campaign also promotes a mobile initiative, that invites fans to enjoy six unique family-friendly experiences, released weekly in the build-up to Christmas. As part of this program, which will launch on November 14, families across the UK will have the chance to enjoy free, fun activities and support, at the same time, the charity BBC Children in Need.
