Hulu Series: Kindred – Trailer

FX has released the official trailer for its upcoming original series “Kindred”, based on Octavia E. Butler’s critically acclaimed novel.

According to the official synopsis, the series revolves around Dana James, a young Black woman and aspiring writer, who has relocated to Los Angeles and begins to settle in her new home but finds herself being pulled back and forth in time, emerging at a nineteenth-century plantation and confronting secrets from her past. “An interracial romance threads through Dana’s past and present, and the clock is ticking as she struggles to confront secrets she never knew ran through her blood, in this genre-breaking exploration of the ties that bind,” the official description also reads.

The cast includes Mallori Johnson as Dana, Micah Stock, Ryan Kwanten, Gayle Rankin, Austin Smith, David Alexander Kaplan, Sophina Brown and Sheria Irving.

The trailer, soundtracked by eerie music, shows juxtaposed footage of Johnson’s character in her LA house, where her boyfriend, Kevin, lives, as well, and of her on a plantation, in 1815. “You’re not crazy. Whatever’s happening to you, it’s real,” Kevin tells her in one of the scenes included in the trailer.

Kindred will be available to stream on Hulu beginning Tuesday, Dec. 13.
