Christian Bale is detective Augustus Landor in the upcoming Netflix gothic horror “The Pale Blue Eye”. The streaming service has just released a teaser, giving viewers a glimpse at the highly-anticipated feature, which is an adaptation of Louis Bayard’s 2006 novel of the same name.
Written and directed by Scott Cooper, the movie is set in 1830 and follows Augustus Landor, a former police detective who is hired to discreetly investigate the death of a cadet from West Point Academy, which was initially labeled as a suicide. The plot reveals that, stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, he enlists one of their own to help unravel the case – a young man with a penchant for drink, two volumes of poetry to his name, and a murky past that changes from telling to telling, the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe”.
The cast ensemble also includes Harry Melling as Edgar Allan Poe, Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Robert Duvall, Toby Jones, Fred Hechinger, Timothy Spall, Charlotte Gainsbourg and more.
The teaser announces that The Pale Blue Eye will be first released on December 23rd with a limited theatrical release before landing on Netflix on January 6th, 2023 globally on Netflix.
