Universal Pictures has released the trailer for the upcoming film Knock at the Cabin, from visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan.
According to the official synopsis, “While vacationing at a remote cabin, a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse. With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost.”
The cast ensemble includes Tony award and Emmy nominee Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, BAFTA nominee Nik and newcomer Kristen Cui.
The trailer opens with the couple and their daughter singing along to “Boogie Shoes” by KC and the Sunshine Band in the car, before arriving at the remote cabin. The next scene shows how Bautista’s character approaches the couple’s daughter in the woods, introduces himself as Leonard and tells her that his heart is broken because of what he must do. He also tells her that he and the other three individuals accompanying him might have the most important job in the history of the world. Juxtaposed footage shows the couple being attacked at the cabin and fighting to defend themselves but being taken hostage in the end.
“The four of us are here to prevent the apocalypse. Your family has been chosen to make a horrible decision. If you fail to choose, the world will end,” Leonard tells the couple.
The trailer ends with the onscreen line “Make the choice February 3”, announcing thus the movie’s release in theaters on February 3rd, 2023.
