Netflix has released the official teaser for its upcoming series “Wednesday”.
From the imagination of Tim Ford, the film charts Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy and stars Jenna Ortega in the title role, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci and more.
The trailer shows Wednesday throwing two bags filled with piranha into a pool where some of her highschool colleagues were practicing to revenge her brother, who had been tortured by them. After getting expelled, she is taken by her parents to Nevermore, described as “a magical place”. On their way there, they tell Wednesday that Nevermore is where they met and fell in love and that she might find some friends there, too. “Finally, you will be among peers who understand you,” Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie), who runs the Nevermore Academy, tells her as she arrives. However, later on, the young student says in voiceover “Little did I know I would be stepping into a nightmare. Full of mystery, mayhem, and murder”. The final shot features Wednesday saying “I think I’m going to love it here”.
The soundtrack is provided by the French song “Je Ne Regrette Rien” by Edith Piaf.
Wednesday will be coming soon on Netlix. The streaming service announced that the series would be released this fall, without revealing the date, though.
