Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the trailer for its upcoming comedy musical Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.
Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, the movie revolves around the Primm family, who moves to New York City and finds a singing crocodile called Lyle, living in the attic. Their son Josh, who struggles to adapt to his new school and friends, befriends the unexpected guest and doesn’t hesitate to help him out, together with the rest of the family and his owner, Hector P. Valenti, when his life is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps.
The cast includes Shawn Mendes as the singing crocodile, Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy, Javier Bardem, Winslow Fegley, Brett Gelman.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the movie action, showing the moment Josh’s mother finds Lyle in the bathroom for the first time, the moment she and her family meets Valenti, played by Bardem, how Josh convinces her that Lyle is not dangerous, and the singing talent he has.
The song playing in the opening of the trailer is Stevie Wonder’s “Sir Duke”. The other song is an original one, performed by Shawn Mendes.
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile also features original songs performed by Shawn Mendes and written by the songwriting team behind The Greatest Showman.
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile opens in US theaters on October 7, 2022.
