After more than 125 years with the iconic Sailor Jack mascot, Frito Lay is adding Jill to the team to celebrate the stories of the women and girls who are breaking barriers in sports. The brand has released a commercial to promote Cracker Jill and features Normani performing a reimagined version of the seventh inning staple “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” whose lyrics are the following:
“Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out to the crowd,
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jill,
No one can stop you if you have the will,
So let’s root, root, root for a girl’s dream.
We’re adding our face to the game…
And we’ll run, throw, with never a doubt.
It’s a new, ball game!”
The spot also shows several girls watching athletes on TV and being inspired by their achievements. At the end of the video, the Cracker Jill special-edition bags, which will be available at the start of this year’s season in professional ballparks across the country, are shown on the screen.
The brand informed that, outside of ballparks, the bags are only available as a thank you (while supplies last) to fans who donate $5 or more to the Women’s Sports Foundation to help expand access and opportunities for girls and women in sports. Cracker Jack is donating $200,000 to this national non-profit that conducts research and advocacy and supports community programming, to help girls and women across the country reach their potential in sport and life.
