The trailer for the upcoming limited series DMZ, based on the acclaimed graphic novel of the same name, has been released.
The four-part miniseries, written by Roberto Patino, revolves around Alma (Rosario Dawson), a medic who makes her way through a demilitarized zone in Manhattan in a desperate attempt to find her lost son. In the comic, created by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli, the action takes place in an alternate New York City divided by the Second American Civil War, sparked by internal conflict over the U.S.’s post-9/11 stance of military interventionism.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the demilitarized zone Alma goes to and the obstacles she faces on her quest to find her son.
The soundtrack music is Nina Simone’s cover of New World Coming (originally performed by Cass Elliot), included on her 1971 album “Here Comes the Sun”.
DMZ launches on HBO Max on March 17.
