Apple TV+ has released the trailer for the upcoming adaptation of Cecelia Ahern’s book Roar, which is a collection of eight genre-bending stories told through eight women’s eyes.
According to the streaming service, each episode uses magical realism and delivers an insightful, poignant, and sometimes hilarious portrait of what it means to be a woman today. The series stars a star-studded cast of female talent, including Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Issa Rae, Merritt Wever, Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Meera Syal, Fivel Stewart, and Kara Hayward.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the stories and the characters, without revealing too much, though. One thing is sure: Nicole Kidman plays the role of “The woman who ate photographs”. When her husband notices that there are a lot of missing photos in an album, she admits she ate them. There will also be “The woman who was kept on a shelf,” “The Woman Who Disappeared”, starring Issa Rae, “The Woman who returned her husband,” “The woman who solved her own murder,” and more.
The song used in the trailer is the 2021 single Seize the Power by Yonaka. The track, included on the album of the same name, is available for purchase on Amazon for $1.29.
Roar premieres on Apple TV+ on April 15.
