Software company Salesforce has teamed up with Matthew McConaughey to raise awareness on climate change and inspire businesses and individuals to make small, but meaningful changes, with a positive impact on the environment and society.
The 60-second ad, titled “The New Frontier” and part of the new #TeamEarth global campaign, features the award-winning actor starting out as an astronaut admiring the cosmos. He then descends to Earth in a hot air balloon, delivering a message for people. “Space. The boundary of human achievement. The new frontier. It’s not time to escape. It’s time to engage. Time to plant more trees. Time to build more trust. Time to make more space for all of us. So while the others look to the metaverse in Mars, let’s stay here and restore ours. Yeah, it’s time to blaze our trail. Cause the new frontier? It ain’t rocket science. It’s right here,” McConaughey says throughout the 60-second commercial.
McConaughey not only stars in the ad, which is subtly mocking Facebook and Tesla, but also serves as Salesforce’s newest brand partner and advisor and helped create the campaign.
The TV spot will be airing on February 4 during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games.
“#TeamEarth is a rallying cry we hope will inspire people and companies to use their platforms for change,” said Sarah Franklin, President and Chief Marketing Officer, Salesforce. “Guided by our core values of trust, customer success, innovation, and equality, we are shining a light on how businesses and people can come together to build a better future. We’re delighted to partner with the acclaimed actor and writer Matthew McConaughey to co-create and share this campaign, and we invite the global community to join in,” Franklin added.
Serving as soundtrack is Bah Bah Conniff Sprach (Zarathustra) by Ray Conniff and The Singers.
