Netflix has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming basketball movie Hustle, starring Adam Sandler.
Directed by Jeremiah Zagar from a script by Taylor Materne and Will Fetters, the film revolves around a down on his luck basketball scout (Adam Sandler) who, after discovering a once-in-a-lifetime player with a rocky past abroad, takes it upon himself to bring the phenom to the States without his team’s approval. According to the official synopsis, “Against the odds, they have one final shot to prove they have what it takes to make it in the NBA.”
The cast also includes Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Kenny Smith, Juancho Hernangómez, Ainhoa Pillet, Raul Castillo, Jordan Elizabeth Hull, Maria Botto, Heidi Gardner and Robert Duvall.
The teaser features Sandler’s character giving a motivational speech to the young player he discovered, played by Spanish professional basketball player Juancho Hernangómez. “Do you love this game? I mean, love it with your whole heart. Because if you don’t, let’s not even bother. Let’s not open that door. They’re just gonna slam it right in our face. (…) There are thousands of other guys waiting in the wings who are obsessed with this game. Obsession’s gonna beat talent every time. You got all the talent in the world, but are you obsessed? Let’s face it. It’s you against you out there,” he tells the young basketball player.
The song used in the trailer is the 2011 hip hop song I’m a Boss by American rapper Meek Mill, feat. Rick Ross. Included on the Maybach Music Group compilation album, “Self Made Vol. 1,” and on Meek Mill’s mixtape, “Dreamchasers,” the song is available for purchase on Amazon for $1.29.
Hustle launches on Netflix this summer, on June 10.
