Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming French sci-fi horror comedy BIGBUG.
Written and directed by Amélie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the movie is set in 2045, in a world where humans have ceded most tasks to AI, and revolves around a group of bickering suburbanites who find themselves stuck together when an android uprising causes their well intentioned household robots to lock them in for their own safety.
The cast includes Dominique Pinon, Elsa Zylberstein, Isabelle Nanty, Youssef Hajdi, Alban Lenoir și François Levantal.
The trailer shows how humans rely on their household androids for the most basic tasks, such as opening cans, vacuuming, playing rock-paper-scissors, to seeing humanity’s raunchiest fantasies come to life. During a rise of “Yonyx” androids, that seem to intend to harm people because they are optional, the protagonists are locked inside their homes, which leads to all kinds of unexpected events.
The song used in the trailer is Percy Faith’s version of the Theme from A Summer Place.
Bigbug is scheduled to release exclusively on the streaming service, next month, on February 11.
