Netflix has released the trailer for its documentary The Tinder Swindler, from the producers of Don’t F**k With Cats.
The documentary tells the story of how Israeli conman Shimon Hayut, who posed as Simon Leviev, the son of the billionaire diamond mine owner Lev Leviev, conned his Tinder matches out of hundreds of thousands of dollars and how some of his victims fought back.
The trailer features Norwegian graduate Cecile Fjellhøy, who fell for Leviev on Tinder and agreed to travel with him to Bulgaria on a private jet. Their relationship took a dramatic turn when he revealed that he needed to borrow substantial amounts of cash to save his own life. The woman gave him money over and over again and, one day, she realized Leviev wasn’t who he said he was.
Another victim match says in voiceover “We don’t know how far this conspiracy actually goes”.
The song used in the trailer is I Miss You by Jax Jones & Au/Ra.
The Tinder Swindler arrives on Netlix next month, on February 2, 2022.
