HBO has released a teaser trailer for the third season of its acclaimed series “My Brilliant Friend”.
Based the third book in Elena Ferrante’s quadrilogy, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, the series follows Lila (Gaia Gerace), who left her husband, and ran away with her young son, and Elena, aka Lenù, (Margherita Mazzucco) who has also left the Naples neighborhood, earned her college degree and published a successful novel. Lila is shown working in a factory under tough conditions and her friend, Elena, is shown typing on a typewriter. However, in one of the scenes she is chased by a crowd in the city streets, at night. During a phone conversation, Lila advises Lenù “You’re a writer, make your role count for something”.
At the end of the trailer, she tells Elena, a face-to-face conversation, “People always talk themselves into the life that suits them best”.
Serving as soundtrack is the 1970 Italian song “La Bambola” performed by Patty Pravo.
The eight-episode third season is scheduled to premiere on Rai 1 on February 8, 2022, and on HBO on February 28, 2022.
