NBC has released a promo for the beloved seven-time Tony Award-winning hit Annie Live!.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the family-friendly musical event, featuring 12-year old Celina Smith (who has been selected in a nationwide casting search) as Annie, Academy Award-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson as the musical’s infamous queen of mean, Miss Hannigan, Tituss Burgess as Rooster Hannigan, Megan Hilty as Lily St. Regis, Harry Connick Jr. as Daddy Warbucks and Nicole Scherzinger as Grace.
Smith is shown performing the iconic song “Tomorrow”, which has been originally written by Charles Strouse as “The Way We Live Now” for the 1970 short film Replay and reworked as “Tomorrow,” with lyrics by Martin Charnin, for the Broadway musical Annie in 1977.
The live event, produced by Chloe Productions, has Robert Greenblatt and Neil Meron, who has served as executive producer on all of NBC’s live musicals since 2013’s The Sound of Music Live!, and most recently the Emmy Award-winning Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, as executive producers.
Annie Live! will be airing on NBC this Thursday at 8/7c.
