HBO Max has released the trailer for the fifth and final season of Search Party.
The series, from showrunners Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers, revolves around the lives of New York City resident Dory Sief (Alia Shawkat), her passive boyfriend Drew Gardner (John Reynolds), flamboyant show-off Elliott Goss (John Early), and flighty actress Portia Davenport (Meredith Hagner).
The trailer for the fifth season opens with Dory saying that she died and came back to life. While talking to a psychiatric commission, she shares her belief that, “if people don’t awaken soon, something very bad will happen to us,” and that she has to “save everyone from their pain”. She is also heard saying in voiceover that she can see the world so clearly now, but her friends all agree that she needs help.
According to the official synopsis, Dory enters a very public business partnership with charismatic tech billionaire Tunnel Quinn (Jeff Goldblum) on the other side of her near-death experience and her old friends – Portia , Elliott and Drew – into the venture as they embark on an altruistic but terrifying journey.
The song used in the trailer is “The Age of Aquarius” by popular music vocal group The 5th Dimension, from their album of the same name, released in 1969.
Search Party Season 5 streams January 7, on HBO Max.
