HBO Max has released the trailer for its upcoming series Peacemaker, starring John Cena.
The show, created and written by James Gunn, who has also served as a director for five episodes, features Cena as Peacemaker, a trained killer who teams up with a different cast of misfits to kill targets in the name of the United States government.
The trailer, full of gunshots, explosions, action, gives viewers at Peacemaker’s life and some of the most important people in his life, such as his father, played by Robert Patrick, who is not a good man, apparently, a costumed character named Vigilante played by Freddie Stroma, and a team of very odd agents played by Danielle Brooks, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, and Chukwudi Iwuji. A bald eagle that appears to be Peacemaker’s new partner is also featured. Along with his new team, Peacemaker also has a new mission that includes murdering men, women, and children to keep America’s peace, which he’s not too sure how to feel about.
The song used in the trailer is “Kickstart My Heart” by American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe, released on their 1989 album, Dr. Feelgood.
The series debuts on HBO Max on January 13, 2022 with three episodes followed by one episode weekly through February 17.
