Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming Christmas movie Single All The Way.
The film stars Michael Urie as Peter, a young man who, desperate to avoid his family’s judgment about his perpetual single status, asks his best friend, Nick (Philemon Chambers), to pose as his boyfriend on a Christmas visit home. The latter agrees and they pretend they’re now in a relationship. However, according to the official synopsis, when Peter’s mother (Kathy Najimy) sets him up on a blind date with her handsome trainer James (Luke Macfarlane), the plan goes awry.
The trailer reveals quite a lot from the story, letting viewers that Peter and Nick have strong feelings for each other but don’t talk about them because they don’t want to lose their friendship. “People who look at each other like that are not best friends,” one of the characters says in voiceover while the two protagonists are shown having a conversation outside the house and being watched by Peter’s entire family. When one of his sisters confront him, telling him he has feelings for Nick, Peter answers that, if he and Nick ever went there and it didn’t work out, he would lose him. “But what if it did work out?” the other sister asks him.
The song used in the trailer is “Gift That Keeps On Giving” by Grammy Award-winner Tori Kelly, from her 2020 holiday album “A Tori Kelly Christmas”. The track is available for purchase on Amazon for $1.29 and the album for $12.59.
Single All The Way launches on Netflix next month, on December 2.
