Disney has unveiled its Christmas advert and celebrates the joy that the stepdads of the world bring us.
The 3-minute film, titled “The Stepdad,” follows Nicole, the granddaughter from last year’s ad, who is now all grown up with a family to make Christmas traditions with. She has two children, Max and Ella, and begins a new life with her new partner, Mike, who moves into their home. At the heart of the story is a very special storybook, a book that Max received from his birth father. As Nicole, Mike and the kids are shown delighting in the magic of Disney storytelling, beautiful animation springs off the pages. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, Anna, Elsa and other characters from Frozen, are all brought to life and into their home.
The four family members also combine existing festive traditions with wonderful new ones, such as baking a gingerbread house. When an incident involving the gingerbread house they built together takes place, Mike makes another one, all by himself, during the night to surprise the kids, who are happy to find it even bigger and more beautiful.
The soundtrack music is provided by a song titled “Love Runs Deeper” and performed by Gregory Porter featuring CHERISE. The track is available for download since the 3rd of November 2021. Disney says that, for every download before 31st December 2021, 100% of the proceeds from the retail price will be donated to its long-standing charity partner, Make-A-Wish International, and their network of Affiliates around the world.
