Spotify marks the International Podcast Day with a series of new commercials that showcase the wide range of podcasts available on the streaming service.
One of the ads features a young man waking up in the morning to Libra Today, a Spotify Original from Parcast, with new episodes released daily.
“Find the one that you want to wake up to everyday” an onscreen line reads at the end of the 30-second commercial, which is scored by Phoebe Bridgers’ cover of The Cure’s “Friday I’m in Love”, recorded at Spotify Studios NYC and included on the 2018 album “Spotify Singles”.
The streaming service has also created a tool called “Find The One” to help listeners discover a show that matches their preferences. The feature, available for now to users in the US, UK, Germany and Australia, makes a recommendation that’s partly based on their listening habits.
Other videos in the “Find the One” campaign promote the “Rotten Mango”, “a true crime + all things spooky podcast” from Stephanie Soo & Audioboom, which offers deep dives in the psychology of killers, no holding back storytelling of crimes, and stories of lesser known criminals from around the world, and “Still Processing”, a weekly show about television, film, books, music, but also the culture of work, dating, the internet and how those fit together, co-hosted by Wesley Morris and Jenna Wortham.
