Quaker Oats celebrates its status as Official Oatmeal Sponsor of the NFL in a new commercial, highlighting that these heart-healthy cereals are “Always a Good Call”.
The spot, created by Mekanism, features a referee and his family starting their morning with Quaker Oats, which is described as “a good call”. Future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees, who’s enjoying some Quaker Banana Nut Protein Instant Oatmeal, confirms that this breakfast choice is indeed a good call and then throws an Apples & Cinnamon flavored Instant Quaker Cup to former San Francisco 49ers great Jerry Rice, who asks him to pass the oats.
At this point, former Steelers running back Jerome “The Bus” Bettis makes quite an entrance because he wants some Quaker Oats, too. Thus, he passes through a fence and dives through an open window to get in time for breakfast. He gets penalized for illegal use of window but the referee reverses it when Brees explains that “The Bus” gets “FOMO” or “Fear of Missing Oats”.
The commercial ends with the referee announcing that the result of the play is… breakfast and with the voiceover saying the tagline “Quaker Oats – A super trusted superfood. Always a Good Call”.
