PrettyLittleThing has released a new ad featuring US Creative Director Teyana Taylor talking about her exclusive collection designed for the NYFW 2021.
The Harlem-born musician says that Harlem to her has always been a live runaway and that it has helped her shape who she is in fashion, in music, as a person, everything. She described directing her first fashion show as “crazy” and ” big deal”. the artist took the opportunity to mention that it’s a lot that goes into preparing for 15 minutes of a fashion show, from styling and getting models dressed, and that her driving force of creativity is built off her life experiences, which is why as a director people trust her vision.
The song used in the ad is “Once the Page of the Calendar Is Turned” by Depression Quilts, from their 2021 album “new note, no additional text”.
According to the fashion brand, Taylor’s collection “encapsulates female sexuality, allowing you to own your confidence and be proud of who you are”. This collection, which is available for purchase, also pays homage to one of her favourite eras… the 90’s clashing high fashion couture and streetwear, with a mix of classic hip hop, soul and R&B.
