Warner Bros. has released the trailer for “The Matrix Resurrections,” the long-awaited fourth film in the groundbreaking franchise that redefined a genre.
The movie, from visionary filmmaker Lana Wachowski, features Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the iconic roles they made famous, Neo and Trinity. however, the two don’t know each other, and Keanu Reeves’ character seemingly repeats his similar call to action from the original film, with different deviations and obstacles, reveals the trailer, which lets viewers understand that the film is about the resurrection of legacy characters in a new, updated Matrix, which is a simulated world where self-aware machines enslave humanity.
The cast also includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith.
The song used in the thriller is the 1967 single “White Rabbit” by the American rock band Jefferson Airplane, from their 1967 album “Surrealistic Pillow”.
The Matrix Resurrections will be in theaters nationwide and on HBO Max via the Ad-Free plan on December 22, 2021. The movie will be available on HBO Max for 31 days from theatrical release.
