Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming French language dramedy The Guide to the Perfect Family.
Directed by Canadian director Ricardo Trogi, the movie revolves around a couple in Québec who deals with the pitfalls, pressure and high expectations of raising kids in a society obsessed with success and social media image.
According to the official synopsis, it “raises the question and humorously exposes the difficulty and complexity of raising children in a society of ultra performance, nourished by parents who, wanting to give the best to their children, end up suffocating them”.
The cast includes Louis Morissette, Emilie Bierre, Catherine Chabot, Xavier Lebel, Isabelle Guerard, Gilles Renaud, Louise Portal, and Alexandre Goyette.
The trailer features some of the challenges the couple must deal with as parents of a boy and a teenage girl, who feels under pressure.
The song used in the trailer is “Soleil Soleil” by Nana Mouskouri.
The Guide to the Perfect Family, which joins a growing Quebec film slate at Netflix that kicked off with the streaming giant’s first indigenous Canadian movie, Jusqu’au Déclin (The Decline), launches on Netflix July 14.
