Matalan has launched a new ad campaign, called “Love the Summer at Matalan” which showcases pieces from the retailer’s summer collection.
One of the spots opens with a mother who, after checking her reflection in the window, impressed by the way her outfit (consisting of a blue tie dye co-ord top and matching shorts) suits her, puts mayonnaise on her daughter’s back instead of sunscreen. Another woman, clad in a floral print bardot midi dress, pops the champagne she holds, accidentally hitting a neighbor.
“Love the Summer at Matalan,” the voiceover says at the end of the 20-second ad.
Serving as soundtrack is the 1960 single “True Love Ways” by Buddy Holly, included on his posthumous album, “The Buddy Holly Story, Vol. 2”.
The “Love the Summer” collection also includes stripe sliders for children, sequin sandals for girls, shirts and T-shirts for men, shorts and swims shorts, dark wash high waisted denim shorts, sandals for women, and even a char-griller patio pro charcoal barbecue by Premier Decorations.
