Lionsgate has released the trailer for the upcoming gritty crime-thriller Above Suspicion, from director Phillip Noyce.
According to the official synopsis, the film, which is based on the true story of one of the most notorious crimes in FBI history, stars Emilia Clarke as Susan Smith, “a young woman desperate to escape a seedy life of crime and drugs in a Kentucky coal mining town. When a newly minted FBI agent named Mark Putnam (Jack Huston) recruits Susan as his informant for a high-profile case, she believes her bad luck may finally be changing. But as Susan and Putnam’s relationship deepens, so does the danger, setting them both on a collision course with deadly consequences.
The cast also includes Johnny Knoxville as Susan’s former lover, who doesn’t want anything to do with Susan, Sophie Lowe, Austin Hébert, Karl Glusman, Chris Mulkey, Omar Miller, Kevin Dunn and Thora Birch.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the action, without revealing too much, though. One of the scenes reveals that Clarke’s character gets pregnant but when she gives Mark the news, the latter tells her that he doesn’t want to see her anymore. He returns to his old life, to his wife and child, but Susan is not willing to give up, apparently.
Above Suspicion will be available in select theaters and everywhere you rent movies on May 14th, and on Blu-ray and DVD May 18th.
