Family comedy series Breeders returns this year with its second season.
The series, co-created by Martin Freeman, alongside Chris Addison and Simon Blackwell, revolves around Paul (Martin Freeman) and Ally (Daisy Haggard) as they raise their two children in London, and fumble through parenthood one blown gasket at a time. Differentiating itself from the pleasantries of other family comedies, Breeders refuses to sugarcoat the pains of parenting, and Freeman wouldn’t have it any other way.
The new season sees the couple’s children, Luke and Ava, to different ages – 13 and 10, respectively – and Paul and Ally must tackle a whole new set of challenges, from broken curfews to veganism. This time the kids are played by Alex Eastwood and Eve Prenelle. Their characters come up with new challenges for Ally and Paul – Ava says she is religious and Luke becomes vegan. “Since when we are the kind of family that retreats in separate rooms to look at different screens?” Freeman’s characters asks in one of the scenes.
The cast also includes Michael McKean as Ally’s father, Joanna Bacon and Alun Armstrong as Paul’s parents.
The second season of Breeders premieres on March 22nd 2021 on FX for US viewers, and later in the year in May for Sky One viewers in the UK.
