Netflix has released a teaser trailer for its hit period drama series Bridgerton, announcing that season 2 is coming.
The show, adapted from Julia Quinn‘s bestselling book series of the same name, revolves around Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, who her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market, and the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings, a committed bachelor who comes up with the idea of them pretending to have a relationship, after the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown casts aspersions on Daphne.
The cast includes Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page in the leading roles, Julie Andrews, Jonathan Bailey, Ruby Barker, Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt, Ruth Gemmell, Bessie Carter, Harriet Cains, Polly Walker, Ben Miller, Kathryn Drysdale, Sabrina Bartlett, Martins Imhangbe, and Lorraine Ashbourne.
Season 1 consisted of eight, hour-long episodes, debuted on Netflix on December 25, 2020 and receives positive reviews.
Season 2 will see the eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family looking for love and happiness in London high society. However, the upcoming season might focus on the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), who – according to an announcement from Lady Whistledown – “intends to dominate the social season”. The anonymous gossip maven also said she’ll be at the ready to “report on any and all of his romantic activities”.
The season premiere date is not known at the moment.
