Hulu has released the trailer for its upcoming biographical drama The United States vs. Billie Holiday.
The movie, directed by Lee Daniels, stars Andra Day as the legendary jazz singer, whose career spanned 26 years, and Trevante Rhodes as Jimmy Fletcher, the man who had an affair with the musician and then led the undercover narcotics sting operation that targeted her, as part of the federal government’s attempt to undermine her reputation and prevent her from performing her anti-lynching song “Strange Fruit”.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the events leading to Holiday being tracked by FBI agents and features Andra Day performing “Strange Fruit”.
The United States vs. Billie Holiday launches on the streaming service next month, on February 26.
