Warner Bros. Pictures has released the trailer for the upcoming epic adventure in Legendary’s cinematic Monsterverse “Godzilla vs. Kong,” directed by Adam Wingard from a screenplay by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein.
According to the official synopsis, the two mythic adversaries “meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.” “Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe”.
The synopsis also reveals that “the epic clash between the two titans – instigated by unseen forces – is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth”.
The cast includes Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison (“Deadpool 2”), with Kyle Chandler and Demián Bichir.
“We need Kong. The world needs him to stop what’s coming,” Skarsgård’s character says in the trailer, which also features the child who is the only one Kong will communicate with, and gives a glimpse at the fight between the two creatures. One of the scenes nods at the fact that there was a war and they (Kong and Godzilla) are the last ones standing.
The song used in the trailer is the 2019 single Here We Go by Chris Classic. The track is available for purchase on Amazon for $0.99.
Godzilla vs. Kong will open theaters and streaming exclusively on HBO Max March 26. On the streaming service, the movie will be available in the US only, for 31 days, at no extra cost to subscribers.
