Panera Bread has enlisted Wells Adams to star in its latest ad campaign, for the MyPanera+ Coffee montly subscription, which allows consumers to get unlimited coffee for $8.99/month.
The spot, dubbed “Goodbye Extras. Hello Unlimited,” features Wells Adams (who appeared on The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise) as a barista who tries to give various unnecessary café extras to a consumer who wants a regular coffee. His offerings include nitro charcoal brew with dry ice, an acorn spiced latte, a splash of freshly milked unicorn milk, which is $12, and foam art.
Eventually, the customer decides to go to another place to buy herself a cup of coffee leaving Adams wondering about the reason why all customers leave.
The MyPanera+ Coffee subscription, priced at $8.99/month plus tax, includes one cup of drip hot coffee, hot tea, or iced coffee every two hours during regular bakery-cafe hours, including free refills of the same beverage at participating US Panera Bread bakery-cafés.
Panera vp of brand building Ezra Martin described Wells as “an incredibly likable, well-known guy” and explained that “Since people are used to seeing him behind the bar, we are playing with that intentionally and adding in his new barista skills.”
