Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming original series Lupin, from the director of “Now You See Me”.
According to the official synopsis, the series revolves around gentleman thief Assane Diop (Omar Sy), who uses the book “Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar” as his inspiration to revenge his father, who died after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit, when Assane was a teenager. Set 25 years later, the show follows Assane on his quest to avenge his father.
The cast also includes Ludivine Sagnier, Clotilde Hesme, Nicole Garcia, Hervé Pierre, Soufiane Guerrab, Antoine Gouy, Fargass Assandé, Vincent Londez, and Shirine Boutella.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the events, without revealing too much. He reveals that, for 25 years, he believes his father was a thief and that he wants to get revenge on the man who framed his father. He sets out to buy a necklace while organizing the heist.
The song used in the trailer includes lyrics like “who gon’ stop me in my moment, who gon’ stop me when I’m going, i’m like a king, who gon’ stop me”.
Lupin launches on Netflix in 2021, on January 8.
