Kate Spade New York promotes its eponymous new scent in a new commercial starring Maddie Ziegler.
The 18-year-old dancer, model and actress stars in a commercial for the fragrance, which marks the first under the brand’s license with Inter Parfums. The spot, filmed on the waterfront in New York City, before the pandemic hit, features Maddie clad in a pink gown hopping over a park bench and bouncing atop gray cement, all in front of the city’s iconic skyline.
Serving as soundtrack is “New York Groove“, which was a hit for the British glam rock band Hello, which first recorded the song in 1975, for their debut album, “Keeps Us Off the Streets”, and Ace Frehley, best known as the lead guitarist of Kiss, who recorded his version of the song for his first solo album, “Ace Frehley”, released in 1978.
“The dance was very ‘do your own thing, let your body express however you’re feeling. I already relate New York with joy and energy, and that’s how I also feel about the perfume,” Maddie said in a press statement.
The fragrance, described by the young artist as “good energy and good vibes,” was crafted by perfumer Marie Salamagne and features top notes of bergamot and wild strawberry, mid-notes of rose and freesia, and base notes of earthy, wooden ambroxan and cashmeran.
Kate Spade New York Fragrance launched on December 15.
