GEICO has released a new installment in its “What Are You Waiting For?” campaign, featuring Tag Team helping a woman with dessert.
The spot opens with the voiceover informing Tasha (played by Nicci Carr) that, with GEICO, she could save hundreds on car insurance and a whole lot more. “What are you waiting for? Hip hop group Tag Team to help you with dessert? the voiceover asks her. At this point, the two Tag Team members (Cecil Glenn, aka DC the Brain Supreme, and Steve Gibson, aka Steve Rolln) show up in her kitchen performing an original version of their 1993 multiplatinum single “Whoomp! (There It Is)“, in which “Whoomp” is replaced by “Scoop”. They are helping Tasha with dessert while singing “French vanilla, rocky road, chocolate, peanut butter, cookie dough. Scoop, there it is”.
The “Shaka lakaShaka-laka-shaka-laka” part is also included, which makes Tasha and her husband, who enters the kitchen in the meantime, start dancing. Their teenage daughter, who also enters the kitchen together with her dad, decides to turn around and leave, instead, slightly ashamed by her dad’s dance moves. This is not the only song re-arranged for a commercial. The latest ad for Google Photos features the Nickelback lead singer performing a parody version of their hit single “Photograph”.
