Netflix has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming YA drama series Fate: The Winx Saga.
According to the official synopsis, the series, based on the Nickelodeon animated series Winx Club, follows “the coming-of-age journey of five fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where they must learn to master their magical powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence”.
The trailer reveals that the main character is Bloom, one of the five fairies who “has the potential to be one of the most powerful fairies the world has ever known”.
Co-directed by Lisa James Larsson and Hannah Quinn, Fate: The Winx Saga, which has Brian Young as showrunner, stars Abigail Cowen as Bloom, Danny Griffin, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Elisha Applebaum, Freddie Thorp, Precious Mustapha, Sadie Soverall, Eliot Salt, Jacob Dudman, Robert James-Collier, Theo Graham, Eve Best, Josh Cowdery, and more.
“Channel your element. Change your fate.” onscreen lines read throughout the 75-second trailer, which gives viewers a glimpse at Bloom’s power and at her classmates, without revealing too much. A final onscreen line informs that the series will launch on the streaming service on January 22, 2021. Season 1 will consist of six episodes.
The soundtrack music is the single “Animal” by AG ft. MOONZz, which has also been featured in a trailer for the video game State of Decay 2: Heartland and in the Batwoman soundtrack.
