
Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming drama “Pieces of a Woman,” from writer Kata Wéber, award-winning director Kornél Mundruczó and executive producer Martin Scorsese.
Described as “a deeply personal, searing, and ultimately transcendent story of a woman learning to live alongside her loss,” the movie stars Vanessa Kirby and Shia LaBeouf as Martha and Sean, a couple who prepare for the arrival of their first child, but lose the baby after Martha’s home delivery ends tragically.
The movie focuses on Martha’s journey as she navigates the sudden death of the child she so dearly wanted and the trailer gives viewers a glimpse at her life and the feelings she experiences while struggling to deal with the terrible loss.
The cast also includes Ellen Burstyn as Martha’s mother, Elizabeth (Ellen Burstyn), Iliza Shlesinger, Benny Safdie, Sarah Snook, and Molly Parker.
The song used in the trailer is a remix of Brittany Howard’s Short and Sweet, performed by Bon Iver.
Pieces of a Woman, which received critical acclaim and won several awards at film festivals, will be released in select theaters on December 30, 2020, and on Netflix on January 7, 2021.
