John Lewis & Waitrose Christmas 2020 Advert Song – Give a Little Love

John Lewis & Waitrose Christmas 2020 Advert - Pigeon and Hedgehog

John Lewis & Partners have released their highly-awaited Christmas 2020 advert, which celebrates kindness, whether large or small, showing how each and every act of love has a positive impact on the world around us, as we pass them on to others.

The 2-minute film opens with a boy who is helped by bring down his football (stuck in a tree) by a young girl who opens her umbrella, which turns into an enormous red heart that nudges the football loose. The film then continues with a series of animated scenes that feature a variety of characters and animals that make touching acts of kindness. For instance, a snowman gives his head as a spare wheel to a couple, a family drop off a bag of Waitrose food outside someone’s front door, a boy helps a peer on the school bus to fix her eyeglasses, an old man sends a joke to his neighbor, some pigeons take a hedgehog who also wants to fly on a ride with their plane.

“Give a little love. Together we can make a big difference” onscreen lines read at the end of the advert, which is set to the tune of “A Little Love” performed by Celeste.

“The scenes are connected to create a long chain of giving, as each film passes the campaign’s heart emblem on to the next part of the film,” John Lewis and Partners explained in a press statement.

The retailer has teamed up with Waitrose & Partners for a mission to raise £5m for various charities, including FareShare, which helps those facing food poverty, and Home-Start, which works with parents who need support, to provide food, comfort, emotional support and advice to families who need support this Christmas.
