Hulu Movies: Happiest Season – Trailer Song

Hulu Movies: Happiest Season Trailer Actress - Kristen Stewart

Hulu has released the trailer for its upcoming original comedy romance Happiest Season, starring Kristen Stewart.

The movie, described as “a holiday romantic comedy that hilariously captures the range of emotions tied to wanting your family’s acceptance, being true to yourself, and trying not to ruin Christmas,” revolves around Abby (Kristen Stewart) and Harper ((Mackenzie Davis), a couple who must deal with all kinds of situations at Harper’s home. Abby meets her girlfriend’s family for the first time and plans to propose at her family’s annual Christmas dinner, but she realizes that they don’t even know she’s gay, which makes her begin to question the girlfriend she thought she knew.

Co-written and directed by Veep actress Clea DuVall, the movie also stars Mary Steenburgen, Alison Brie, Victor Garber, Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy, and the film’s co-writer (and DuVall’s fellow Veep costar) Mary Holland.

The trailer, set to the tune of “Make You Mine This Season” by Tegan and Sara, gives viewers a glimpse into Abby and Harper’s life and the challenges they face at Harper’s family home, from simple things to much more complex ones, including the one related to Harper not coming out. “I’m scared that if I tell them who I really am, I will scare them,” Harper explains, almost in tears, to Abby, in one of the scenes. Abby, who is also almost in tears, tries to make her partner understand that it has been painful for her to be hidden”, which makes Harper answer “I’m not hiding you, I’m hiding me”.

The song used in the trailer is the 2020 single Make You Mine This Season by Tegan and Sara.

Happiest Season premieres on Hulu this month, on November 25.
